About
Hello
I'm Minh Khoa Cao, a Computer Science student at the University of Illinois Chicago. I build reliable backend systems and AI infrastructure, with a particular interest in the systems that make LLM-powered products dependable in practice.
My work spans concurrent storage, local model orchestration, retrieval systems, and reproducible LLM evaluation. I'm especially drawn to projects where careful engineering, measurement, and simple interfaces matter as much as the model.
What I'm doing
- Building systems projects in Go and Python, including a Redis-compatible
server and a local
llama.cpprunner manager. - Conducting undergraduate research on LLM-assisted grading of worked calculus solutions at UIC.
- Actively competing in ICPC and preparing for the Mid-Central USA regional.
Beyond engineering
This site is also a place for the things I make and notice outside of code. I'm into photography and Formula 1—especially McLaren and Oscar Piastri. A photo section is on the way.
